The Toy Wagon
The Toy Wagon
#171
1942-1947
In 1940 Fisher-Price introduced the #198 The Band Wagon, which has two circus horses that prance back and forth staying in step to the music produced by the band wagon. The #198 was discontinued in 1941 and replaced in 1942 with #171 The Toy Wagon. The Toy Wagon is similar to The Band Wagon as both have a wagon pulled by rocking horses, however The Toy Wagon does not play music. The Toy Wagon has a bell instead that rings every time the horses rock back and forth.
The following poem can be found in one of Fisher-Price's mini-catalogues from the late 40's:
A big Toy Wagon and galloping team
The answer to many a kiddy's dream
You can load the wagon with lots of toys
An ideal gift for girls and boys.
