School Bus
#192
c1965-1990
*1969 version on display
The School Bus was/is the longest-running Little People toy, living past the Original Little People era into the Chunky era and made today for the Current Little People. The School Bus was the very first set to introduce the peg-sided Little People, although the dog was occasionally straight-sided for a few of the early years.
While every collector is guaranteed to have at least one--and probably many--school buses in their collection, that's not to say obtaining every single bus and person is easy. The first decade the toy was in production, it birthed a handful of exclusive--and now extremely rare--people. The tan Lucky dog--with a tan face and tan body--is the most sought-after of the lot.
The bus itself underwent many forms, losing it's original swing-out stop sign after 1973, as well as receiving a few minor alterations during the 1980's. All of the buses have a wood base until 1989, but a plastic base thereafter. The bus is 13" long, 5-1/2" high and 4-1/2" wide. Designed for children ages 2 to 6 years old.
